"EAT YOUR HEART OUT"

Clarence River -- Iluka

Hi there, we spent 17 nights in Port Stephens Had a good look around the area, public transport was good. Good walking tracks.Climbed Mt Tomaree to the lookout, great view. Met some fellow sailors and did some entertaining on board.
In all enjoyed the stay.
Left Nelson Bay at 7.15am Sunday 17th June with a good westerly breeze. Had a great sail, motor sailed during the night. Early morning sailed until the wind dropped off then motored to Coffs Habour, at anchor by 5.15pm, tided up, early dinner, early night, up at 4am and sailed to Iluka (on the Clarence River). Crossed the bar at 3.30pm. Anchored at about 4pm
We did this trip in the company of Roseanne & Sea Bird, It was great having their company, as they encouraged John to do more sailing with out the motor.

The best I could do, that is a whale

Port Stephens

Hi there, we left Lake Macquarie and motor sailed to Port Stephens on the 31 May. Arrived about 2pm, just before we reached the entrance to Port Stephens we saw our fist whale (I was far to slow with the camera) then just in front of us were 2 more, and we were heading straight for them, for an instant I thought we might land on top of them and would be tipped over. That did not happen and since I have been told by the local Dolphin & Whale watch skipper that they seem to be aware of you, and to turn your radio on so you can be heard.
John had to order some parts for the motor, so we missed the opportunity to leave before the weather turned.
It is pretty good here in Nelson Bay we are tied up to a mooring and can get of and on the boat with little effort.
Shops are are short walk and there are plenty of cafes and eatery's.
