Port Stephens

Hi there, we left Lake Macquarie and motor sailed to Port Stephens on the 31 May. Arrived about 2pm, just before we reached the entrance to Port Stephens we saw our fist whale (I was far to slow with the camera) then just in front of us were 2 more, and we were heading straight for them, for an instant I thought we might land on top of them and would be tipped over. That did not happen and since I have been told by the local Dolphin & Whale watch skipper that they seem to be aware of you, and to turn your radio on so you can be heard.
John had to order some parts for the motor, so we missed the opportunity to leave before the weather turned.
It is pretty good here in Nelson Bay we are tied up to a mooring and can get of and on the boat with little effort.
Shops are are short walk and there are plenty of cafes and eatery's.

  2. Hi guys. Sounds like youre having a great time! Its weird being a month behind you as we pretty much have the place to ourselves! The only cruisers we've met are ones staying put for the winter! We are in Jervis Bay now - what a beautiful spot. Any recommendations for anchorages/fishing etc? We are at Hole in the Wall at the moment. Will probably stay in the bay until the weekend - we might even do some scuba diving. Hope we can catch up with you soon!
