Great Sandy Straight -------- Bundaberg

Got up early Saturday 7/7/12 and left South port, had a good sail, motored during the night. While on watch I had a wish on a falling star. We where in the company of yachts Roseanne and Seabird. It is good having the company of other yachts.
We arrived at Wide Bay and crossed the bar at 8.30am Sunday.Anchored at Pelican Bay at 10.30am.
Had a quite day. Monday John took Sheryl & myself to the shore for a walk. A lot of campers along the beach.
About 2.5hrs later John came to pick us up and had to walk the dingy half the way as the tide had gone out, it seemed the only deep water was on the side we were. Consequently we all got wet. It would have made for a good video.
Tuesday we navigated the shallowest part of the Great Sandy Straight and anchored at South White Cliffs. It took about 5 hours, as this was our first time in these waters, we followed Seabird and got through with out a hitch. Sheryl & I had another chance for a walk, this time on Fraser Island.
Wednesday we left White Cliffs at 6.30am and anchored at Big Woody Island. We spent about 6hrs and then departed for Bundaberg at 15.00hrs to run with the tide. The forecast was for 15 to 20knotts wind, that didn't happen. Motored all the way, anchored at Burnett Heads at 2.30am after 3 attempts and a lot of shouting.
Had to re anchor in the morning light. Have had a lot of rain since arriving and the last couple of day have been cold. Yesterday John and Barry moved the boat up the river closer to town.
